Title: Wellness Technician (Full-time)
Department: Diabetes Program
Report To: Exercise Specialist
Under limited supervision, oversees and participates in the Wellness Center Activities pertaining to the Diabetes Program goals and objectives in line with the Physical Activity Best practice for Care and Prevention of Diabetes.
A. Coordinate with the Exercise Specialist of daily activities within the Wellness Center with all diabetes program clients.
B. Assist Exercise Specialist and Wellness Coach with intake of client’s fitness activities.
C. Collection of all daily sign-in sheets for fitness activities.
D. Maintenance of Wellness Center and all fitness equipment.
E. Daily check of all fitness equipment and workout room.
F. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of exercise equipment, workout room, bathrooms, and kitchen area.
G. Instruct wellness center clients as prescribed by the Exercise Specialist
H. Demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment to clients.
I. Provide leadership necessary in achieving the Program’s community goals and objectives.
J. Coordinate and implement strategic planning with other Seminole Nation departments creating greater brand awareness and health benefits to the Nation.
K. Accomplish and report outlined goals and objectives by periodically meeting with the diabetes team.
L. Responsible for providing quality customer service.
M. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY
a) Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
b) Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
c) Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
d) Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
e) Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
f) Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
g) Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
h) Ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations.
a) High school diploma and/or GED required, an Associate’s degree in Science, or Health Science, and/or related field is preferred.
b) Six months work experience within a health and wellness field.
c) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the qualifications.
d) Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with ability to meet Seminole Nation liability insurance requirements and maintain eligibility for insurance.
e) Must be able to pass background check, with no prior felony convictions.
f) Must be able to comply with the Seminole Nation Drug Free Workplace policies.
g) Talk, hear, sit, stand; use hands to handle objects, equipment, controls and reach with arms and hands.
h) Position may require lifting of up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
i) Must be physically active to lead classes and carry exercise equipment to and from classes.
a) Work is performed in a typical interior/office environment, group class settings, wellness center fitness room, other classroom environments, and outside setting pertaining to certain fitness activities.
b) Moderate Noise level but may rise in volume due to some exercise locations.
c) Evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required.
